A Matter of Taste : Chinese New Year baking

With Chinese New Year just a week away,
I believe everywhere is a hustle and bustle.
Roads are packed with people out and about running errands, preparing for the new year.

Due to the kids was just recover ,
We are not encourage to bring them out to crowned places.
So I decided I had to catch up on my Chinese New Year baking!
This year i didn't buy any cookies like i used to buy in everyear CNY,
The only one i bought was Maruku !!
& i realize cookies nowsday was getting very expensive !!
Below some yummy cookies i bake during the last weekend!!
So satisfying & So glad with the taste !!

Flower Jam Cookies
It taste so buttery !! & it look pretty too :)
I used strawberry jam as the topping .
Recipe from Yum Yum magazine (76).
Melt in Mouth German Cookies
This cookies was very popular when last week i try to browse tru some baking blog.
I saw this Recipe at many of the baking blog .
The name tell you how yummy and melthed in your mouth as you taste it :)
& is very easy to bake !!
Even it look abit pale on the colour, but it does taste good !!
Almond, Choc, Cranberry & Raisin Cookies .
Original recipe was using Hazelnut , Chocolate & Cherry .
So i changed abit on the ingredient , cos that's was i have with me :)
It's still taste good .
This is the cookies specially baked for my FIL which can't take any sugar.
Mixed Herb Cheesy Cookies
So it no sugar added in the recipe.
Main ingredient was Cheddar Cheese, Mixed Herb & Olive Oil .
It's a healthy bite for elderly :P
But not really taste that good for me .
Cos i m a sweet tooth person !!
Recipe from Yum Yum Magazine (76) this month .
Last, I bake some Pumpkin Seeds Butter Cookies
Taste buttery with pumpkin seeds.
Not too sweet as i reduce the sugar and add extra pumpkin seed.
This Cookies a little hard to cut into shape as it had alot of pumpkin seeds .
That's why it took longer time to bake this cookies!!

So satisfy and so addicted to bake those cookies !!
I hope i can still bake some over this weekend.
Cos there's alot of nice and yummy recipe that i wanna to try !!

Anyway ... also a big big hugs and thanks to my hub,
Without him taking care the 2 monsters,
I think i won be able to come out with those cookies :)
I wander i can still bake this weekend ???? !!!! :)

2011 will bid its goodbye

The year of 2011 is ending soon. Time flies so fast!

2011 will bid its goodbye in few more days
A year just went through from a blink of an eye .
Christmas just passed !!
New Year is coming, CNY is next month .

&
The boys is growing fast .
I had lost count of their development like i used to update lastime .
One is going to Year 6 for his kiddy .& one is in Terrible 2 .The boys ... brought me many kinds of experiences and different emotions tru the year.
Kids bring such joy to our life.
You won't know what you did before you had them.
Kids are a little bit of work, but the reward is in watching them grow up -
seeing their first step, hearing their first word, all the way up through their first kiss, graduation, marriage.... [sniff]...
( guess i m thinking too much )

Parenthood can bring joy and sorrow, challenges and successes.
It can make one feel proud, tired, delighted, bored, and overwhelmed -
sometimes all at once.
That parenthood !!

We as parent are eager to do a good job.
But it seems there is always something to learn:
a new technique to try, a different struggle to overcome.
We also faced many hard time with them as well :(

2011 will bid its goodbye, & i looking forward to 2012.
I hope we are able to faced the New joy and New sorrow,
New challenges and New successes :)
in our parenthood .
As for the boys,
I hope they really work well & get along with each others .. i means REALLY WELL.
Wish they love each others more ... yah .... MORE !!

Oh .... i forgot to wish for a good health for everyone in the family & all my readers!!
Nothing can compared a GOOD HEALTH .

Again, we had our baking time since we had cancelled out trip to Cameron.
Lucky we didn't go , cos the boys and daddy was still not very well .
So we bake some cakes over the last weekend.

This mini lemon cakes was specially bake for lil J.
He love it !!
& i glad i bought this mini silicon mound .
Cranberry Yogurt Chiffon Cake.
This cake was really good !!
I can baked it again and again !!
But this cake doesn't suit the Lil J taste. He prefer his lemon mini cakes .
But glad Big J's love it.
Anyone like to have some ??
Other wise, he can finish all by himself :)

All my amazing blogger friends,
I am sorry I have been a bit MIA

I’m hoping to catch up.

Things was not doing good at my side ,
Not very bad either ...
There's up and down over here ...
Usually I just love this time of year!
I can get this overwhelming urge to clean and organize my house.
To plan for a short trip .
I will prefer Christmas then CNY.
But this December,
Things was slowly down ...
The boys was fall sick one after another ..
Same goes to daddy & mummy.
We been taking turn to visited clinic for the last few weeks.
Last few weeks we cancelled our trip to Genting.
& today i call up Cameron Century Pine Resort to cancelled my next week trip(Cameron) again.
The kids was not really well to travel to cold whether places.
I rather not to take the risk .
Well .... so far no further plan ...

It's mid-December, almost the end of the year.
Time really flies .
Apart from the boys being sick.
They actually doing okay .
As naughty as always .

This indeed be my final post before Christmas .
I wanted to share some favorite photos of the Small J .
Photo took during last Saturday.
While Daddy & Jeremy was out to catch a movie.
& i was in bed with the Small J .
Playing with his favorite toy cars.
He was not very well .
But still managed to give me some wonderful smile .

Come to baking now ,
I like to share Gwyneth Paltrow's favorite Blueberry Muffin Recipe.
Which i took from Women Weekly Mag.
This was a real rich and yummy Blueberry Muffin Recipe.
Worth try !!
INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
2 eggs (preferably organic)
1/2 cup whole milk
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
3/4 cup plus 1 tsp sugar, divided
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
Heat oven to 375°. Line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners. Whisk butter, eggs and milk in a bowl. Combine flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder and salt in another bowl. Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients; fold in blueberries. Divide batter evenly among muffin cups; sprinkle with remaining 1 tsp sugar. Bake until muffins are golden brown and a knife comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm.

In closing I'd just like to say,

when we all deal with family and stressed and situations beyond our control let's keep these :

A Matter of Taste : Lemon Cupcakes

Cupcakes with a Twist !!
Like to share this recipe with you.
Simple and nice .

Ingredients:
2 cups cake flour, 1 1/4 cups sugar ( i used 1 cup)
2 teaspoons baking powder,
3 to 4 teaspoons lemon juice,
Zest of 1 large lemon (outer yellow skin),
3/4 cup milk, 2/3 cup oil ( vegetable oil or corn oil)
2 tablespoons lemon flavoring
3 eggs separated

Instruction:
Preheat oven to 325 F
In large bowl, combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder and Zest of 1 large lemon,
Add milk, oil and lemon flavoring & mix well.
Beat in egg yolks, one at a time.
In separate clean bowl ,
Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry m adding remaining 1/4 cup of sugar.
Fold egg white into better
Pour into prepared pan
Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until inserted comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes

The Concert & Progress in 2nd Semester for Jeremy & Mummy's Birthday:)

The Concert was held on 12th November .

At the same place we had last year.

Before the performance started,
They have musical percussion .
Can spot Jeremy ?? Here's is Jeremy performance costume and dance . This expensive simple costume cost me ard RM70;
& parents were requested to provide own shoes, stocking, hairdo and makeup:)
Even the black pants were had to get ourself .
Lucky is boy, nothing much to do with the hairdo and makeup ... hihi
He just request me to put him a tattoo .... so i agreed !! :)
But honestly, i m NOT impressed with the costume . The performance was OK .
Can't really see my boy at the beginning, Cos all boys wearing mask !!
The title of the dance was : "I cant wait to be a Lion king " From the Lion King Movie.

Apart from the performance .
He also got himself a prize for his Drawing & Colouring Competition.
He got 1st prize for categories B for 5 years old. Students were given a picture with one duck,
They have to come out with their own imagination and colouring.
Guess Jeremy create a 'partner' for the duck cum a lovely "love shape" :)
With the frogs and fishes in the pond .
& some lanscape at the background :)
During the prize ceremony :)He was showing his papa the prize he won :)
This round he really feel happy with a "Real Prize"
Cos during the rehearsal ,
He keep telling me the prize was not 'real'
There's no prize at all ..... : (
I told him it was a rehearsal only .
You will surely get a prize during the prize ceremony .
He was very happy seeing me waiting for him at the side of the stage .
Love the way he was happy to see me and proud of himself :)
Same day in the morning, There have Parent-Teacher's Day in Jeremy's kindy,
We were they to discussed about his progress in the 2nd semester.The class teacher said ,
He had no problem with his homework and study.
Catching up fast & learning fast ,
Very independent and brave .
Always the 1st person who finished the task .
Always wanna his works ( writing/art) to be neat ,
In a pleasingly orderly and clean condition.
I realize he quite fussy on his works.
Can mixed well with mostly all his friend.
Cos he can communicate well with them in Mandarin and English and also BM.
This round he didn't scored full marks in any of the subject.
The highest was 98% the lowest was 88%.
According to teachers, every subject was improve, except Mandarin.
Every year , every semester, same complaint from the teachers.
"Your boy is very very ......... very playful and active !!"
Hmm... i still can't find a way to overcome this .
I dunno how .... soft & hard approach had been given and explain to him.
But nothing much change in this matters.
I hope he out grow this matters soon before he entering primary school year 2013.
Papa managed to captured this lovely photos of us.
He was very happy with his prize &
Mummy and papa was very proud of him too :)
After the prize given,
We rush & head over to a wedding dinner .
It was a tiring and busy day for us .
Parents-teachers day, Concert to catch up and a wedding dinner at the same date and time. But we reach the dinner around 930pm .
& it end around 11pm .

Last,
Yesterday 13th Nov was MY Birthday .
Yah .. one year older !!
PaPa asked me to decide where to go for lunch,
I decided to bring the boys for the Sakae Sushi.
Very 1st time for the kids.
So end up abit of mess .... haha.
No special birthday gift on the birthday.
Cos i had claimed my birthday gift earlier during out Shanghai trip :)
Perhaps Shanghai trip was part of the birthday gift ..... i assumed :)
I had some facial treatment product :)
A jade necklace from Shanghai :)
Beside,
I feel so blessed for all the Birthday greetings via FB & sms.
I thot it was just a normal day.
But with all those i do feel special !!

Shanghai Night & Nightlife

Shanghai really had awesome night scene.
This city has also has various nicknames in English = "Paris of the East".

Shanghai has a rich collection of buildings and structures of various architectural style.

We miss out one thing,
We should go back to the Oriental Pear Tower on the last night to view the night scene from top.
I believe it will even more awesome compared to day time.
But there's different kind of beauty for daytime and night time in Shanghai .
Will share with you the day time of Shanghai on my next post .

Hengdian World Studios 横店影视 & happy halloween !!

We are backed from our Shanghai 8 Days trip.

We had a good time .
The weather was around 14C to 25C, Just nice to travel .
Actually now was raining season ,
But we are consider very lucky ,
Only the last 2 day it rained, the rest of the day was beautiful & Clear:)
We took nearly 1700 photos .
I had upload many in FB., Still many to download & edit !!

Since it was near to Halloween.
I just upload & share some photos we took at Hengdian World Studios 横店影视城,
Cos There have this Halloween decoration and theme .
横店影视城 is the largest film studio in the world,
It is located in Located in the town of Hengdian in Dongyang City in the central portion of Zhejiang Province.
Sometimes called "Chinawood" :)
Today, Hengdian World Studios consists of a theme park and many nice attractions scene.

There have this Halloween decoration at the theme park .
Many Skeletons and Ghost walking around the street O.o
I only dare to take photo of the Male Ghost but not the female wan...O.O ...
cos they really look scary & horrible.
Beside, we can see many pumpkin light all over the theme park.
So orangy and beautiful.Hengdian World Studios has become the filming site with the most filming scenes,
the most complete supporting facilities and the longest historical span,
and has an important effect on the fields of film and tourism.
While we were visiting this place.
Few places was having film shooting.
Too bad we do not know them .... guess not the famous artist ... hihi.
But i quite like this place .
Some of the scene and place was closed for filming and construction.

Happy 5th Birthday Jeremy & Fabulous Monday !!

Today 17th October ,

This Fabulous boy of mine officially turn FIVE years old .

Happy fabulous 5th Birthday to my dear son !!
Yesterday we had promised to give him a Birthday Party .
Provided he is agreed to stay with grandpa and grandma :)
Cos we will be off to our 8Days Holiday .
Shower him with lots of birthday gifts ...
haha ...

Today after i fetched my boys to Kindy and to Nanny.
I feel my heart was heavy to leave them for a long Holiday .
Started to miss them edy ... hhahaha ....
I hope i m normal !!??
Anyway ....
Today i just had a fabulous Monday as well .
Properly becos ... i'm off for my Shanghai trip tomorrow .
& also ...
I had received a Fabulous gift from The Malaysia Women Weekly.
& Also a BIG THANK YOU to
Raffelsia The Pearl Centre for the Fabulous Pearl Necklace i won.Yes ... i won this Classic Pearl Necklace .
yah, i know i m lucky .. ..
RM1 for 1 SMS only .... :)
While i was having lunch , the APC Magazine people call me .
and ask me to put on some make up before i came over to collect the necklace!!
Cos they will be some photoshooting ...!!!
Oh dear , i dun even prepared for that .... i dun even had a lipstick with me .
Yah ... i dun make up in the office , Just one time at home only .... O.o
After lunch .. i rush back to my office and started hunting Cosmetic from my colik.
Lesson learn .... next time should keep some simple cosmetic in my bag :(

Busy Month Ahead .

October seem to be a busy month for me.

Also exciting months too .
Many things to look forwards .
Many things to prepare.

1st was this :The book fair that u shouldn't be miss at all .
What's more i m staying and working near to that area !!
Was thinking to take a half day leave off to grap some cheap book .. :)
Guess i be bumping into any of you there.... !!

2nd things :
See ... he can't wait to tell you that he is turning FIVE very soon.
Next week was the day !!
17th was the Big day for him .
They just can't wait to grow up .
Will gave him a small party at home with family like usual.
Something he is really looking forwards too.
Everytime he attended people Birthday Party.
He keep asking me, when is his turn ??
Why so looooog !!!???
Mummy start to busy now ,
What to cook ? What cake should order ?
What Birthday gift ? One for him, one for didi ... O.o
etc ... etc ....

Last, was the moment i been waiting for .
Really looking forwards since very long time.
I been waiting for 5 years !!
Finally ... Finally ....
Our kids is grown up and much easy to control and look after .
We can leave them a side .... hahhaha . ..." bad mummy " !!!
Me and hub will be away few days end of this month to this place:
Our honeymoon !! :)
After many planning, some budgeting and so on .
We manage to arrange a oversea trip !!
Ticket was ready, Visa was ready .... huhuhu
We decided to take a rest and go for a Holiday just for the 2 of us .
A gift for ourself .
I just can't wait !!

What not so good here was work is piling up this month too.
Why ?? this month ??
Guess, i will take a break of blogging.
Will still blog , but maybe not so often .

I was going to post earlier this week,

But was tied up with some works .
Till today .... Friday O.o

Something to share abt the Jeff Concert last weekends.
It was a great concert.
Even though Jeff is in his 40s ,
But he still has his signature crystal clear high vocal, like an angel.

Jeff was like 4cm to 5cm away from our seat.
Kinda small .
But glad we had 2 big screen at the both sides of the stage.
With some song title, that allow us to sing our lung out !!
huhu, this is the great part !!
What make the trips more meaningful ?
Was the friendship !!
Every time we gather together,
Shifting our schedules to make time,
Even though now with kids and jobs and husbands,
We don't see each other very often.
When we're laughing and chatting,
We catch up what we have lost touch ,
We talked and laughed until the wee hours of the night,
Until we fall asleep :)
We told each others,
"We should do this more often."

It was a busy week and weekend for me.
But i m so look forward this Saturday at Genting .
Cos i m going to meet : Prince of Love Ballads !!He be singing some of his favorite hits (經典之作) :
"Forgiving" (宽容),
“Ai Ru Chao Shui” (爱如潮水),
“Guo Huo” (过火),
“Don’t Tell Him” (不要对他说),
“Tai Xiang Ai Ni” (太想爱你)
and many more to his fans.
十多年了，听到这些歌的时候，不禁想起我的少年时光 !!
好歌百听不厌，无论过了多少年，都是那么好听 .
We sang together with our friends.
I still keep those old cassettes with me .. hihi
Not sure isn't still work or not .
Be going this 2D 1N trip with my 2 best friends,
My school time classmates , Another wonderful gathering for us .
BTW, this was my very 1st concert too.
Never had chance to go for a concert when i was a student.
Even when i start work ... just never think of a concert to go .
Seem like all ticket are pricey , especially you will have to choose a good seat/view.
But ... once a while treat yourself a good concert is Good.
Especially going with your best friends or love one.

However before i sign off,
I couldn't leave the blog without some new photos to keep you company!

A Matter of Taste : So lets get Cooking & Baking

Has anyone else been incredibly busy with all of the back to school,
back to after school activities, etc.?
Life has been whizzing by!
Abit busy, abit lazy O.o

Below baking and cooking which i done during the one weeks holiday.
Sometime i really love to cook and bake ,
Especially learn something news from the recipe book.
Sometime we need some "comfort" food.
and then try and take pretty pictures of what I cook.
I just thoroughly enjoy it!

Actually i also like to set up a nice dining table ,
Maybe with flowers, candles ...
Serve with beautiful plates and foods.
I just love beautiful things :)
Prepared in freshly cleaned and organized kitchen.
These are the days I hope my kids remember!
But too bad ,
I know , my guy and boys will not appreciate .
They might think mummy wasted manytime in the kitchen O.o
Or wasted "$$$" ... that's when people don't know how to enjoy !!
So ... just forget it !!
Just the FOOD will do .

Lately I find myself drawn to cooking magazines or
articles having anything to do with being in the kitchen.
Probably why I've enjoyed browsing blogs so much.
I find a passion being able to cook/bake those beautiful recipes you see in the gorgeous magazines ... hahaha
Even sometime it doesn't taste perfect .
For that first tried, is good enough.

Here's some of my baking and cooking over the pass weeks.
Will later share with you the recipes.
Cos need sometime to translate into English .

Recipe for sweet bun .
Ingredient:
500gm high protein flour
95gm sugar
1 tsp salt
14gm instant yeast
50gm margarine
45gm shortening
2 tsp condensed milk
1 egg (A)
230gm water

Method:
1)Add all ingred into mixing bowl except water. slow down your mixer speed and pour in water slowly, beat for 1 min.
2)change your mixer speed to medium speed for 7 to 8 min.
3)remove dough and leave it on table . cover with a big bowl and rest for 20 min.
4)stretched the daugh and fold over , cover and rest for 15 min.
5)repeat the step 4, and rest for 5 min.
6)Reshape dough into your favorite shape. and can add in any you like like ham, tuna , sausage

On the 2nd day of Raya,
We drove to PD ... Toward the beach,
That day was one of my favorite adventures I've had with my boys.
I remember the 1st time i went there , this beach i means.
I was pregnant with Baby J .
And that day ... i had 2 boys with me .
I do enjoy the journey so much more :)

We spend around 2 hour at the beach .
Well .. i know PD don't really have a nice beach .
But once a while is ok ... it won kill you !! :)
"let go in"with some excitement !!
Of cos Big J was all having fun .

While the small J still warming up to get use to the beach, wave and sand.
We did Holy Beach things.
Like scour wet sand for some baby craps Mummy .... "plane"....That's what he is pointing at .
We check out late that day to Tiara Beach Resort.
This place was crazy packed ,
All full.
The next whole morning ,
We're having fun at the water theme park.
That's the reason we are here in Tiara Beach .
Now he can make all funny faces for me ,
When i wanna to snap his photos .
The big J really having lots of fun playing with the slide.
Even Small J was having fun for this ,
Of cos with papa holding him tight .
I wish i can captures more on this moment.
But i have to take care the boys and also my camera well .
So , only managed to captures one .
Last some heart warming moment from the brothers.
Your son will hold your hand for only a little while,
but will hold your heart for a lifetime.
It's was life worth living by just being around them
and love them as much as your own breath ...Overall the trip was OK,
Especially with the boys at the beach and water theme park.
Not really enjoy the room we are staying.
Cos alot of Cockroach !!! eeeeee .... i hate Cockroach.
Lucky is just one night .

Going holiday during big festival cum school holiday is really not that fun.
Everywhere was crowned .
Even waiting for the food to serve is killing .
Can up to 1 hours + ... yah .... that long :(

Learn to colour batik

I don't want my holiday to pass so fast !!!
kinda lazy to start the same routine again .
But life have to go on ....

How's your holiday ?
Overall we have a good time .
The photos will tell you how much the boys enjoy the passed holiday !!
However before i sign off ,
I couldn't leave the blog without some new photos to keep you company!
Basically photos shown here was one of the activities we done over the pass holiday.

Somehow we manage to learn to colour batik at one of the Shopping Mall.
Just pay RM5 for each batik .
I think is kinda worth it .
Will like to try another batik painting when we visit there again .

At first was Jeremy colored ,
After a while, after seeing him colored so concentrated,
I just can't wait and get myself to colour the batik as well.
I learned before when i studied in Poly , that's was many years ago .

He choose the fish batik,
See how serious he was :)

And i choose the butterfly batik,
While Small J patiently wait for me to finish the batik .

The end result of out batik .
Jeremy fish batik was nice with a matching background.
He get some help from the 'pakcik' , guide and how to colour .
The 'pakcik' will provide us the colour and how to mix and match with the colour.
Mostly he coloured himself .
I guess he done a good job !!

He was proud of his batik !!

This is mine .... guess i used the wrong background ,
Should have choose a lighter colour like light green or light blue ... huh ?

It's was a good experience.

It's will be a long whole week for me .
Office was closed for one whole week .
We had few small activities on plan now,
Hopefully turn out to be a wonderful holiday for us.

Happy lantern-making!

The Mid-Autumn festival is around the corner,

& you get to see lanterns everywhere these days!
And so, we made our very own lanterns last week!
Is also part of the kiddy activities .
Which involved parent and kid on making own lantern.

What we used :

We reused the Birthday cake box .
Colour paper.
Transparent nice fabric.
Super Glu, Scissors, glue, masking tape, double sided tape.
Some laces

Candle holder at the base
Cutting the side of the box to replace transparent fabric .
The 'body' of the lantern.
Draw and write by Big J.
The back of the lantern with the title " A DATE WITH THE MOON"
Cutting out some hole for the cancel to shine during night .
Final product .
We forgot to capture the lantern during night time when it glow .
Will share the end result later during the festival night .
We're happy with the lantern making.

A Matter of Taste : Roselle Yoghurt Chiffon Cake

After getting myself in to baking bread,
Now i m getting my hand on Chiffon Cake !!
Never stop learning new Recipe :)

I realize Chiffon cake was nice to eat slightly more then cheese cake & butter cake
Cos 沒有罪惡感 .. hihi
As i can eat a whole big slide of it without feeling guilty !!
I can even eat half of the cake .
因為我是屬於易胖一族 .. huhuhu ... easy to gain weight.

Anyhow . . .
This is a nice Recipe that i wanna to share .
Even it's not so pretty like Chiffon Cake ..
But it does taste nice , soft and not too sweet.
好好吃 !!

Ingredients:
(i used 20 cm tube pan, it could be better if 17cm)

3 egg yolks (use large eggs)
25g caster sugar
40ml vegetable oil
80g plain yoghurt
1 teaspoon lemon juice
80g cake flour

4 egg whites (use large eggs)
50g caster sugar

60g dried Roselle ( Can use Canberries, raisin ..... )
some cake flour for dusting

Method:

Sieve flour and set aside.
Chop dried roselles into smaller pieces.
Coat with flour and sieve to remove excess flour. Set aside.
Place egg yolks in a mixing bowl. With a manual hand whisk, whisk the yolks a little. Add in sugar and whisk to combine.
Add in vegetable oil gradually, whisk to combine.
Add in yoghurt and lemon juice. Whisk to combine. Sieve over the flour and whisk till the flour is fully incorporated. Do not over mix. Set aside.
In a clean, dry mixing bowl, beat egg whites with a handheld electric mixer on low speed until mixture becomes frothy and foamy. Add half of the sugar amount and turn to high speed and beat the mixture. Continue to add in the remaining sugar and beat until the egg whites reaches the soft peak stage.The soft peak stage is reached when the peaks of the whites curl over and droop slightly. The egg whites should appear smooth and glossy. (Do not over beat the whites still stiff, it is better to beat the whites still soft peaks for easy folding with the yolk batter.)
Add the beaten egg whites into the egg yolk batter in 3 separate additions, each time folding gently with a spatula until just blended.
Add in the prepared dried roselles. Fold in until just blended Do not over mix.
Pour batter into tube pan (do not grease the pan). Tap the pan lightly on a table top to get rid of any trapped air bubbles in the batter.
Bake in pre-heated oven at 180 degC for 30 mins, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean, when lightly pressed the cake will spring back.
Invert the pan immediately and let cool completely before unmould.
To remove the cake from the pan, run a thin-bladed knife around the inside of the pan and the center core. Release the cake and run the knife along the base of the pan to remove the cake.

I guess i know why my Chiffon Cake doesn't turn out pretty when unmould.
Cos i can't wait till the cake was completely cool .
I can't wait to taste it ... hahah

Weekend and the in between.

It was a homey weekend,

We didn't go else where .
Just spending the time with the boys at home .
Doing some activities with the boys ..
Watching TV, Cooking & Baking :)

Sunday morning , we had some art time in the after breakfast .
My lil artist - Big J .
What about the Small J ??
I think he is playing with the colour and water more .
Perhaps a lil artist in the making ??
We'll see :)
After a dirty art 'class'
Usually the boys will had some water playtime .
Later after afternoon nap ,
We dwell outside on the Sunday evening ,
We bring the boys out to playground.
Usually the playground was packed with people, adult and kids.
But due to puasa months.
We had a quite playground :)
That's also means the mosquitoes grew even more hungry !!Jeremy was waving and calling Jareth to let go his hand and slide down from the slide !!
Jeremy meet a new friends during the play time .
As lil J was a lil bit worry and excited to let go !!A good sweat and a good smile is all we needed !!

Bake
Finally i tried my 1st Pandan Chiffon Cake over the weekend.
We always heard Chiffon cake was abit difficult to bake .
I always encountered problem with egg white in stiff peak with glossy look.
But this round i manage to have a stiff peak eggs white.
But still the Chiffon cake doesn't turn out the way i want.
I will wanna to try again !!
But lucky it does taste good and soft like Chiffon Cake .
Maybe a little wet inside .
Didn't bake long enough, Cos we are waiting for it for breakfast :)

I get question by my friends :
How do you have so much time to bake & still manage to keep an eyes on your boys ??
Well the first answer is that I don't always have it all done!
Not even close!!
I don't really keep to a schedule on the things we do .
Weekends tend to be the day I catch up on laundry from the Weekdays.
When i was baking , my hub was there to keep an eyes on the boys .
Or i will wake up slight early to bake .
That's no easy way to have both.
We must sacrificed time and a 'tidy' house .

Today was a special date for us,

Today a beautiful date to remember - 8.8 2011,
Marked our 2nd son turning TWO !!
It hurts to write this. The good hurt.
& not just because HE's mine and that whole of How can he be TWO How fast time flies.
True indeed, but it's so much more than that.

Happy Birthday to our handsome, magical, much-loved lil boy.It's the second year of life for him.
Who he is ....
He is such a fun lil guy to be around.
He understand more then he can say.
He can play with less assistance for hours.
He understand simple directions and many common phrases used in routine situations.
Even he can't tell and say .
His a cars lover , Bus, plain .... what ever transport.
( A lil small gift given and choose by kor kor -Jeremy)
His a big eater and food lover .
Enjoy looking and reading book.
Verbalizes wants .. ( i want this, i want that ... i want)
Able to pints to body parts when asked in Eenglish & Chinese.
Knows the names of many animals.
Still potty train .
Surprisingly , he is not a TV lover .
He just watch a while then go ..
Not like Jeremy was a TV addict !!
....
Many more that i can't recall !!

We had a small birthday party for him last Saturday.
Just a close family members - Hubby's side .
Everyone come over to make it work.
And that's all I ever need.

So , mummy was the chef of the day.
The menu prepared as below .

The result was good and yummy.
But it always nice to serve hot .
& it's look beautiful for me too ... haha ..
Serve with Cream of mushroom soup.
We had baked food such as :
Baked potato, Grill chicken wings, Baked rice cheese with prawn and crap meat.
I miss out taking photo for my Fried Maggie Noodles .
Kids just love Fried Maggie Noodles ... finished in no time ... :P
Beautifully Strawberry Jelly for the night.
A Birthday Party can't miss without a Jelly .
Yes .. a Baskin Robin Chocolate ice-cream cake .
I wanna to bake some cupcakes that night,
But just to 'play' save .
I don't want to stress myself for a Birthday cake .. hihi
So, we decided to order from Baskin Robin.
A cake love by everyone :)

Last,
We bring him out for his 1st movie last Sunday !!
Not any Cartoon movie.
We choose "The Rise of Planet of the Apes" :P
Well .... He is doing amazingly good and behave.
From Start till the end of the movie ...
At 1st we were all worried that he will make noise,
Cos he is not a TV lover as i said earlier.
So i bring alot of things for him to eat ... just in case he make noise.
Overall ..
We have a nice movie session yesterday.
Perhaps more to come .... yeah !!
So looking forwards for the movie for CARS ... in cinema this month.
Yes, it was a beautiful weekend .
Hoping today is as fabulous as you are!

Our Sunday .

Last Sunday,

I'll catch them locked in this moment of brotherhood.
Jeremy knows just how to smile to make Jareth laugh.
And little brother knows just how to laugh to make Jeremy smile.By moments like this and memories like this
It's obvious security they feel in each others' presence. Of cos manytime they fight over small matters,
Sometime they does not appreciate brother's assistance.
Manytime they ask about each others when they don't see each others.
We had hard time dealing with this 2 lil 'monster' at home .
I hope to see more on the loving part instead of fighting !!
But overall ... they are dealing with each other quite well .

oh ya .. my cooking & baking 'mojo' was back .
First I made the boys hotdog bun for breakfast.
Is really nice to serve it hot !! Below dishes for Dinner
We had , Cucumber Fried with Mushroom.
We had Fried Fish Maw with Minced Meat & Serve with hot Herbal Soup. There's goes my Sunday.

How's abt The J Brothers ?
Let start we Small J.This lil man of my .. is coming to TWO next months.
Yes. Few more weeks he be turning into TWO.
His is definitely his own little person now with his own little personality.
He is now learning to communicate ..
Learning to find the right words to say .. abit slow and delay on speech.
Many time he will call me "papa" instead of "mama" O.o
But i'm sure he be very talkative in no time .
Cos he had a very talkative brother :P

Still wandering how am i going to celebrate his Birthday ?
Maybe just a small one will do . Simple and warm Birthday for him .

Now the cheeky and the playful one !!
Lately again .... he is hard to control .
Very noisy , very playful .. can't be still .
Sometime we just not dare to bring them out ..
Even stay at home most of the time also not very good .
He is always the one who really hard to control.
Everyone have to shout at him .. ask him to behave .. STOP and Keep quite.
Manytime ..I was so stressed. I stood there…
and I could feel my blood boil with frustration.
The boys are noisy .. the adult also being noisy yelling here and there ..
I worry and worry what he will turn out like as an adult.

I always salute those parents can really bring the kids ( 2 to 3 kids) for oversea trips,
For long distance trips .. for short holiday ...
It seem no hassle, no trouble with the kids .
At the moment, i still can't ... we always have to tag along PIL.
What a shame !!
Everytime ... one parent or one party get frustrated ,
One losing patient !!
The whole trip gone down the drain .
Then we just 'ta pau' and go home early !!
At the end of the day .. we are exhausted .
Whose fault ?? Parents or the kids ?? O.o

I really love this 2 lil guys of me, Really ..
But sometime ... loving them, like eating my very soul !!

But that, folks, is what it is like to ride the roller-coaster of parenting!

Well ... lets see something nice instead of complaining the boys .

Last Sunday Morning, We visit Flora Pesta at Putrajaya .
I was quite enjoy taking photos and able to see so many beautiful flowers.
But again .. Bring two kids along .
Is really hard to concentrate and snap photos.
Beside that , is also raining .. so we have to leave the events.

When I was young and during school time,

We always have girlfriends night or days out here and there.
Mamak for teh tarik, Purple-cane for a great cup of tea ....
Kind a miss those young days .

Can we feel sexy and free and slip into slinky tops and high heels ?
Instead of short pant and tee with a bags full of bottles & diapers ??
And I agree we can have it all....
Bottles and baby food, best girlfriends and high heels!
I guess best friends wedding was a good reason to gather around.
Here's the black and white lady !!
Prepared for the wedding dinner !!Prepared and dress up for being a chi-mui
Bride requested all chi-mui must in white in colour .We CAN be mommies and still have girl's outing without the kids !!

I had so much fun last weekend.
I m off for being a mum for 3 days 2 night to attend a Best friends wedding at Muar.
Last Friday i leave the house door with a lil of guilt in me,
I make sure everything was packed and arranged what is necessary for the boys.

That Friday afternoon,
We drop by Philea Resort at Melaka for lunch and photos shoots.
A place where my friend get her wedding photos done .
Very nice place !!
We not manage to stay overnight,
Well .. for me is kinda expensive stay .
But if you had the budget , is worth the stay as well !!
We just managed to visit the place and snap some nice photos.
Actually we are not allowed to go in to the suite and resorts.
But becos my fren took her wedding photos there ,
And we had our lunch there at the Italian restaurant.
That's why there allowed us to go in .
It's good to laugh in a different way than we do with our Little.
It's healthy....
Look like an amazing group of women,
Having lot's of fun .
Every Mom needs a girls night or day out once in a while.
Sometime we do feel guilty of leaving but I think we need those few hours/days of feeling like a woman again to make our job as a "mom" even better.
To feel young and feel like we are back to the school time like those days.

On Saturday morning was the big day for our Friend,
We get prepared for being chi-mui for the bride early in the morning.

Standard Chartered KL marathon on 26 June 2011.
I got my running shirt & my running tag yesterday !!
With the no N-27398 :)

Who ever participate , Are you ready ??
Honestly .. i m NOT ready .
I m not been running lately,
I m not been eating well lately ,
I m not been sleeping well lately.
i m not train enough !!

Last year, i participate in 5KM .
I had fun and think 5KM was manageable.
So, this year i wanna try out for 10KM... O.o
I m going for female 10KM this round .
Wei friends... wish me luck !!

Breaking last year’s record,
The Standard Chartered KL marathon announced that nearly 22,000 runners
have signed up to compete on 26 June.
So, it will be a big event ya .

I'll tell you what's coming up this Sunday on my next post .

Some update on the RUN.
I managed to finished the RUN in 2 hours time.
Hubby actually able to finished in less then 1 and a half hour.
But he waited for me at the 10KM signboard ,
So we can run together to the finished line.
So end up 2 hours in 10KM.I had a good sweat and glad i managed to finished !!
Hopefully next year i can do better !!

The Story of Us .

I can't believe 15 years had passed ,

We meet each others 15 years ago ....
There the story started...

Our courtship years .

Years 2001
We took the opportunities to travel .
Not many but I m glad we did .
One filled with romance and still fresh memories .
Love that was so real, you could touch it. Year 2003
Our great wedding day !!

...and I will never forget it.
It was 22 June 2003
It was the most perfect day ever,
and I will never ever forget it.
I will never forget the way my entire family & friends was together.
The way he "scooped" me up .
Year 2005
We planned a trip to Nepal .
It was during December .
We celebrated our Christmas at Nepal .

Another memories was created .
Before we had our first baby in year 2006.
Life has changed so very much in the past four years.
We've welcomed two babies ..
Who brought more joy than I ever knew was possible and more stress than I ever thought I could handle.
End of Year 2008,
I'm expecting our 2nd baby.

Year 2009.
Another photo session with our new baby.
We were the proud parents of The J Brothers.
We have found so many new ways to love each other.
22nd June 2011, Marked Our 8th Wedding Anniversary Years .
For all the tears we've shared...yes, I'm sure more of them too.
When we look around at our kids and what we have and how far we've come.
I am happy for what we had build.
We don't have the perfect marriage, no.
We forget to communicate sometimes or forget to invest in just the two of us.
Like in out courtship years .
We don't always agree on things .
Overall...we love .
And, we know what's important...So, here's to that happy day, the 8 years in between,
and the many more on the way.

This year, we didn't take a leave off during this special day like we use to.
Cos hubby was tight up with some work .
But we will surly replace it some others day for this special day .
Perhaps we are planning for a good trip year end .
Just the two of us . " keep my finger cross"
Still planing .

Little did i know ...
Behind of this years ... appreciating the normal, the everyday of life .
You will found true love and happiness .

Dear, I hope I make you as happy as you do me (most of the time) and
I pray we have many, many more years together.

Enjoying the Small Things

Life has a lot of simple things you can enjoy.

But if you move too fast you will overlook most of them.
So don’t be in a hurry.
Don’t move too quick.
Slow down and pay attention to the world around you.

Actually it was a short trip to Telemong, Karak , Pahang.
For a house warming and baby full moon Party.
But before i can captured more photos,
My camera run out of battery O.o
But glad this (below) was the last 2 photos i captured... before it went off !!

A Matter of Taste

It's been a while since i share my cooking and baking post.

Here's some recipe to share .

I first look at the recipe,
I get interest by the french name of "farcis" and the beauty of the dish.
I looked up the ingredients and it did not seem too complicated.
So i give it a try .
If you are someone who love capsicum ... should give it a try .
The stuffing is nice, tender and fragrant with a tint of cinnamon.
Sadly .. i m not into the taste of capsicum since i was a child.
So this dish was not what i love best .

Ingredients

2 red and 2 yellow capsicum/peppers
200 g pork meat - finely chopped (a bit lean and fatty)
50 g almond slices
½ cup olive oil (approximately)
½ cup water
1 egg
1 onion
3 cloves garlic
1 thick slice of bread
1 tsp cinnamon
parsley (a few stalks)
pepper & salt

Method
Preheat oven at 180°C (350°F - gas mark 4).
Stand the red peppers up on a cutting board and slice them in half, lengthwise.
Remove the core, white rib on the sides, and the seeds.
Immerse them in a pot of boiling salted water for 5 minutes.
Drain and let them cool down.
Chop the onion, garlic, a few stalks of parsley and bread.
Place them and the chopped meat in a bowl and mix them well together.
Add in the egg, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp cinnamon and season it with salt and pepper (to your taste) and mix them well till you get a homogeneous stuffing.
Stuff each half of a red pepper with a handful of stuffing, carefully leveling the top, and drizzle some olive oil on it.
Then scatter some almond slices on top of the stuffing.
Drizzle a little olive oil on the baking dish and pour in the water. Then place the stuffed red peppers in the baking dish.
Bake it for 45 minutes at 180°C

Below recipe is from "yum yum" magazine.
It's was my very 1st trial and it turn out good.
The ingredient i m going to share was serve with 4 to 5 people.
The photos i snap here was serve with 20 people... O.o

Fried Fish Maw with Minced Meat.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp oil, 1tbsp chopped garlic
1 onion, peeled and chopped
2 red chillies, seeded and chopped
2 tbsp dried prawns, coarsely chopped
100g minced meat
50 fish maw, soaked and cut into strips.

Seasoning:
1/2 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp light soya sauce
1/4 pepper, 1/4 tsp sesame oil, 100ml water

Method:
Heat up oil, saute chopped garlic and onion until aromatic.
Add in chillies, and dried prawns and stir fry until fragrant.
Add minced meat, seasoning and stir well
Lastly add in fish maw and stir well .
Dish up and serve

Have you try this Homemade Mee Hun Kuih when you was a child ?
I recall , my grandma like to cooked this .
The method is just like pan mee,
This is my grandma flavored dish and cook .
My grandma used to cook this for me when i was a child.
& when i came back from school ... tiring and hungry ...
& we always finished up a big bowl ....
The soup should be thick form and with strong mushroom taste.

We have cupcake for the week.
We have raisin cupcake topping with cereals.

Last , a simple scrap layout of my lil Small J at 22 months
Another 2 months he be turning TWO ..
I feel a little sad that he has “grown up” so much quicker then Jeremy when he was this age !!
Guess we are all very busy , that time flies fast without our notices.
That our boys have grow up far quicker then we realize .

A Day With Natural At FRIM, Kepong

Last Sunday , 29 May.
SIL organized a trip to FRIM, Kepong.
It's was a Good day .

A group of 17 families member was joining this trip and i pretty sure everyone really enjoy themselves with the natural.
Activities like Jungle Tracking and Water play at the Waterfall.
Because we had small kids,
So it's was not advise to have Canopy Walk .
The weather was slight hot but is was OK ,
As the place was full of greenery and trees.
Share some pictures taking on that day.
Let the pictures do the talking :P

Half way, we meet "new friend" = "Millipede"
Kind a long about 7 to 8 inches .

Below pictures show the Small J finally reached the end of the
Jungle tracking ... without Carry !! Is about 2km distance ..
Guess it's was a good exercise for him and his lung.
Can give him a 'certificate' on finishing the jungle tracking .
Btw, it was one way ya .... At last we carry him half way while on the way back .

After finished the jungle tracking,
We went for Waterfall .
Guess this is the best part of the trips.
The water was pretty cold .
I can't remember how many years since i went to Waterfall .
After a jungle tracking and a Waterfall play.
Small J get hungry and able to finish 2 cupcakes at a time !!
During the waterfall play,
We saw a pretty model having some photo shoots.
Beside that, we saw few couples taking wedding photo shoot as well.
The beauty of natural really a nice place for a photo shooting.
I was busy with the kids , otherwise i will go for some photo shooting too ...

End of the trips,
We packed and leave the waterfall location .
Guess, we are the most noisiest group at the Waterfall area.
But it's was fun !!
Hardly can gather all for a outing trip like this .
I hope for more outing like this to come .

That's why we all was hugging the trees and having a group photos.Last, Actually this trip was organized to celebrate my FIL 70th Birthday & also Father's Day.
Sometime a outing is more fun and nice to create a memorable day.
The best thing about birthday celebrations was that we bring those we love & get a lil closer again.
I believe my FIL do enjoy himself with all his children and grandchild on that day.

Here's what I think about birthdays. Plain and simple. Whether you are 7 or 70.
Celebrate them ...
There may not be a grand parties or expensive dinner.
But is a way to celebrate your life ... we survived a year .

A day visit to "Balai Bomba" & 1st Semester progress Report

Jeremy was selected to join this half day trip to Bomba last 2 week during Saturday.

Yah, not every kids being selected , just few with some others kindergarden.
I m sure he will love to see the fire-engine and fire-fighter.
That day early morning,
I just send him to Kiddy ... He just join the group happily !!
He even ask me to go back after seeing his best friends at the Kiddy .
Oh my boy ... He been growing up alot .
No more the one who is always looking for mummy .Oh dear, i realize my son was the smallest size among his friends

1st Semester Progress Report 2011

Last Saturday we went to the Kiddy to collect Jeremy's 1st Semester Progress Report.
To collect the 1st exam result ,
See how things in progress tru-out the 1st semester.
For me He done well in his exam.
Some subject we expect to be high mark but low especially English ,
But surprisingly the rest was doing good !!
Chinses (98%), Math (100%), Science(94%), Bahasa(95%), English(78%) ..
For English i saw very careless mistake .
But the exam and mark was not important at this level.
The important ... they understood what being taught ,
How far they understand.
But according to few teachers,
He is catching up very well, fast learner,
Can see alot of improvement from January until Now ...
So Glad to hear that !!
At last daddy bought him a "Pikachu CD" from Popular book shop as a Gift :P

Behaviour wise , o.o ... o.o
Very Playful in the class,
Very talkative ... Many question to ask.
Until sometime disturbing his classmate .
Love learning new things,
Same things will make him bored very easily.
As what teacher said " VERY PLAYFUL, BUT VERY SMART"
I take that as a compliment !!
Teachers need to calm him down sometime, when he get too excited.

Another 5 more months he be FIVE years old .
Having boys is a blessing, but omg ... they can really very noisy and playful and active.

Daddy's Birthday

It's was Daddy's Birthday yesterday and also Public holiday,

So i plan to bake and cook some nice dishes for daddy's birthday :)
And PIL was invited .
Even it was a small simple dishes, It's took up alot of time too .
But mostly turn out good ... I m happy with the result as it was my first time tried on the recipe.

Yah .. my kitchen/Oven was " Burning hot" yesterday the whole day !!
Daddy claim he just want a simple cake ..
No cream and not too sweet .
So i bake him a Strawberry & Lemon Cupcakes.
But still taste sweet for me .

First time i'm baking this Vegetables and Tuna Tart,
A great recipe i get from the previous bento workshop ,
I wanna to try this recipe for sometime ,
Yet, yesterday was a great occasion for me to bake this.
It's simple, but need alot of works too.
Instead of making own base as tart , i used Gardenia Whole bread as a tart base.
Roll as thin as you can and put inside the cupcake tin,
But i realize i doesn't make it as firm and very thin.
So the base tart was kind a thick.... It should be very thin.

Cooked Fresh Mushroom, spinach , onion as a filling,
Topping with Milk+eggs ,Cheese and cherry tomato.
(I will shared the recipe later and post it up here)

Serve with a hot Home-cook Mushroom Soup.
Love this mushroom soup, so creamy and rich !!
I used 2 type of Fresh Mushroom -
Fresh Button While Mushroom & Fresh Shiitake Mushroom.
We had Roasted Drumstick, Chicken Wings and Roasted Potato.

With Jeremy helping hand,
We also baked "Donut" Cake !!
A recipe i learn during my bento Workshop too .

I was busy preparing the foods, till we forgot the Birthday Song ,
& forgot to take photos with daddy .... O.o
But i hope daddy enjoy the simple dished i prepared.
& Thanks so much that taking care the 2 lil monster,
While i was busy in the Kitchen :P
I guess taking care the 2 boys was as tiring as me busy in the kitchen.
hahaha

I m glad i have them in my life. ... yah .. we are lucky.

Arithmetic Math & Exam Week !!

Jeremy has been going for Mental Arithmetic Math class for few months now.

At first it was some struggle between him and me ,
I need to nag and nag and scold , in order for him to finished his Arithmetic homework.
But i realize that not the right way.
End up he ask me to 'cancel' his class and go back to Art Class again .
Guess should make it fun for him in order for him to like it and learn it ...
So i make it a point that He is the TEACHER and i m the STUDENT.
Which sound right ... i never learn Mental Arithmetic before , even abacus !!
So as time go by and more fun ... by not forcing him ..
Slowly i can see some interest and result and more understanding in him... phew ...
I hope he able to do well in Math , not like me .. i m very poor in Math .
I don't like numbers, i don't like calculation .. O.o
Hope he keep up his good work at Mental Arithmetic !!
" keep my fingers cross" and wish him good !!! hahaha
Some said i enroll him too early in Mental Arithmetic , am i ??
I don't think so .. Age of 1 to 6 was a golden years for kids to pick up and learn.

MIB ( Malaysia Institute of Baking)

Here i m at the MIB (Malaysia Institute of Baking) last Saturday ,
The baking workshop started at 9am.
Registered on line at Kuali.com,
Register fees was only RM30.

Photos show the working place that we going to learn our baking .
All ingredients, baking tools was well arrange and prepared for us to kick start.
No 10 , was my working station .
We had 4 person in a group with one Baking facilitator .

Our first baking was Honey Pretzel,
This baking take longer time ,
Master chief teaches us how to make the dough and form the pretzel.

This is my creation - Honey Pretzel with pumpkin seeds and sesame.
Hey, even it doesn't look as nice as Aunty Annes,
But it taste good .. k ... :P
Seem like it need lot of practice to make a nice & beautiful Pretzel .
But at least we learn the recipe and some of the tips on baking Pretzel .

2nd baking was - Chocolate hazelnut Cake.
As what the Master chief said :" This was a Wonderful cake ever,
Once you eat this, you will remember MIB ... hahaha"
Cos the Chocolate mass (Pure dark Chocolate) and the Hazelnut Paste was from Germany.
It's was a very good ingredient and recipes .
I will shared the recipe later in my next baking !!

The 3rd was English scone with lots of raisin.
This english scone was good to serve with jam or cream,
As is not sweet . There's no sugar in this recipe.

Last , here's our result of the baking we learned,
Very proud with the result and taste .
I m going to bake this again all by myself for the coming weeks.
Hope it turn out just as nice as this :P

4 of us work well as a Team,
We learn from each others and share the same interest in baking .

Btw, for those who interested on the baking workshop,
There will be 2 more workshops - May and June.

Pusat Sains Negara

Yesterday was a day full of joy and excited for Big J.

A day he been waiting for sometime since the teacher mention about
Pusat Sains Negara(PSN).
I feel excited for him as well.

No dilly - dally in the morning,
Wake up, Drink milk, brush teeth, take a quick bath,
Change , comb hair, put on shoes and get into car.
Hmmm ... how nice if everyday will be this way !!
Then mummy no need to nag and nag and nag ..... O.o

Get ready in the school bas !!
Mummy doesnt know much about PSN ,
Guess A place learning of science and technology.
As we never been before.
I actually very glad that the kindy choose PSN for their outing .
Every year they will organize a outing for the kids.
Last year they when to the Pusat Pertanian Negara ( if not mistaken).

That's was back in January . Now is mid of April ..
Our Big J still haven got a Full 18 Stars.
Still 7 Stars to go ...
Are we parents too fuzzy on him or He is really that ....... O.o

No Water Play at the moment
Below photos taken on February.
I love seeing my kids have a good bonding time during water play.
I love having them play with water when the weather was very hot.
I love seeing them having fun, the smile and laugh that warm my heart. !!
Since last 2 weeks,
Small J having bad wheezing.
We decided to keep the shade whale pool for the time being.
So, at the moment no water play for the boys.
The two of them
Many said they look much different from one another.
Their bond is getting better for sure.
Manytime that's a fight occur due to jealousy and attention needed.
I don't say much because not much is needed to be said.
I know why , as a mother i know.
We have begin to talk to Big J here and there ,
How's a big brother should take k the lil bro.
Share, love, respect ....
Somehow i know he get it.
I just knew.
He will be a Good Big brother ... i just knew.
Perhaps give him more time to adjust.

Guess i m missing the previous classes.
But i m lucky to be randomly select for the class of April.
Why randomly selected ?? Cos Due to overwhelming response.
Participants will be selected randomly.
Preference will be given to those who have not attended any of the workshops.
So , i guess i m the lucky one for this April Class .
The baking class will held on 23 April.
Can't wait to get myself hand on on the April's baking class recipe below :

The one that i miss
Ching Ming was last 2 weeks,
But due to busy schedule and Baby J fall sick .
I only able to pay visit to my beloved passed grandma this week.
Time passed so fast,
I can't believe it's been a while since my ah mah passed last year 2010, July.
But every time thinking of her it's bring warm , sad, tears and missing feeling.
I got this 'heavy' feeling every time i visit her grave.
Just miss her so much .

Last,

A Matter of Taste : Meal on Weekend .

When i was a kids,

I always love lunch on meat , even now ... i still like it.
But i hardly eat now, cos i don't encourage my boys to have lunch on meat .
Guess is not healthy for them .
& this breakfast is just for me and hubby .

Fried Onion with eggs.
Usually we had a big breakfast over the weekend to start out the day !!
Here is our simple lunch .
We had Fried Shredded Pork with Chili and Mushroom.
& also Vege Tempura.
I bough a tempura powder for trying out how to fried Vege Tempura.
But it doesn't turn out like Japaneses Tempura.
More like Normal Fried Vege .
Even i follow the step and used 'ais' water for the tempura batter.
Any nice tempura powder to introduce me ??
I wander is the powder or the way i fried the Vege Tempura O.o

Later dinner we had new dish from new recipe.
Fried Pumpkin with Mushroom.
Ingredients
300g pumpkin, 80g mushroom, 50g chive flower
adequate tapioca flour, garlic slices and fermented beans.

Method
Rinse pumpkin, cut unto pieces.
Cut all mushroom, garlic and chive flower into slices and section.
Heat up some oil, fry pumpkin and garlic over high heat until the colour changed.
Add in mushrooms, fermented beans. water, salt and tapioca flour.
Add in chive flower and dish out.

Personally i don't really fancy about this dish,
Guess i putting too much of chive flower that make it taste abit "heavy"
But a good try !!

I like this dish more.
Braised Chicken with Fermented Black Bean.

Ingredients
300g fresh chicken, 6 shallots, 3 petals garlic, 2 red chili,
2 stalks spring onion, 4 pieces old ginger, 2 tbsp fermented black beans,
20g mushroom , 2tbsp cooking wine ( hua diao wine)
100ml water.

Marinade
1tbsp each for light soy sauce, cooking wine
1tso each for dark soy sauce and salt.

Method
Rinse chicken , cut and blend with marinade and set aside for 30 minutes.
Peel shallots and garlic and smash it.
Cut chili in to small pieces ( remove the seeds)
Cut spring onion into section.
Heat oil and fry chicken until golden brown, remove to drain.
Heat up 2tbsp oil , fry ginger, fermented black bean, shallots and garlic.
Add in chicken, mushroom , dress with some cooking wine.
Last add in seasoning , red chili, water,
Cover the pot and braise until cooked
Serve.

That's it for this week Meal on Weekend .

Happy to be back home , but tired.

Yay ... the small J was backed to home .

We discharged on Saturday late night .
We had a stay at the Hospital for 3 days 2 nights.
He missed his "kor Kor" the most ..

Generally, The small J was doing alright .

It's was a hard time for us , for the whole families and especially for the Small J .
When we saw the lil one in pain and suffer from lung infection.
An X-ray was done,
Small J had Pneumonia , is an infection of the lungs.
He had a slight wheezing and cough on last Thursday Morning,
But we didn't expect it turn out to be that serious out of sudden.
On Thursday evening around 6pm after seeing the pediatrician,
The doctor said, his lung was very tight and need to admit immediately.
Without hesitate, we rush to Hospital.
After sometime, the pediatrician from the Hos . ordered to admit into ICU.
To have better and careful observation every hour .
Small J was having breathing problems .
Wheezing, labored breathing, rapid breathing, coughing, vomiting,
Lack of appetite and hesitance in movement.

The night at ICU, he was restless ...

On the second day,

We can see improving in him and he accepted the medicine very well.
At least i can see some smiling face and playful despite all the poking and prodding from all the doctors and nurses.
To make a 1years plus baby to wear a oksigen tube is difficult.
Is irritating to their nose , But he have to wear it on the 1st day at ICU,
To help him to breath and have enough oksigen .
Somehow he only wear it awhile, he can't tolerate !!Glad he is drinking well .The appetite was back on the 2nd days.
2nd day at Hospital also for Small J to start Chest Physiotherapy.
Chest Physiotherapy is the removal of excess secretions
(also called mucus, phlegm, sputum) from inside the lungs, by physical means.
It is used to assist a cough, re-educate breathing muscles and to try to improve ventilation of the lungs.
This involves a form of 'patting' the chest to vibrate the lungs and help the secretions move.
It is not hitting! 'Vibrations' and 'patting' do what they say, to try and clear the airways.
"patting" front chest and back for 15 minutes.
After "patting" they used a small 'tube' to suck the phlegm out from the nose and mouth.
It was so heart pain to see the small one in pain and scared.
We had this Chest Physiotherapy for 2 time, the 3rd time i insisted to have "patting" ONLY.
Without sucking the phlegm by using the tube.
Cos small J bite his own tongue when he was struggle and trying to bite the tube that inserted to his mouth ...
It was really really heart breaking ...i m very sorry for my baby.
I can't make him feel better .

Later that Friday we been transfer from ICU to normal room at Child-care.He love standing at the window to look down on cars, lorry, bas ....
Guess a 3days stay was a very long time for us ..
We miss home so much .

After taking so many medicine, antibiotic, antiviral and .... etc etc,
That cos him to have diarrhea ,
That the purpose of the medicine ,
To flush out all the phlegm,
Cos they are too small to cough the phlegm out from the mouth.

Anyway ....
We are happy to be back home , but tired.

Weather was bad and not good lately,
We prefer not to go out so often now ....
We don't know where he got the infection from .
Maybe the weather, maybe the people around ....

From the bottom of my heart, I say a thousand word of thanks.

A Matter of Taste : Meals on Weekend

Well, I've started posted about weeks at these homecook meal,

Maybe i could like to start each Monday on "Meals on Weekend" posts.

It definitely has helped me get into the habit of making my weekend menu plan :P

It's also helped me get into habit of only buying what i need for one week at a time.
I think we've saved some money in our grocery budget this way.

With that said, I'm moving on.

I'm still gonna make my menus each week and try my best to follow them,
Hope you enjoy reading it .

Without further , here is my meal for the weekend ..

Nasi Goreng Kampung
This for Big J , ask he love cucumber instead of fried egg.

Ingredients

A)
½ medium sized onion
1 shallot
2 cloves garlic
4 birds eye chilli
1 heaped Tbsp dried anchovies/ikan bilis

(B)
½ cup finely sliced long beans
1 large handful kangkung

(C )

2 cups packed cooked rice, 2 eggs
2 Tbsp dried anchovies (I use them dry, unwashed, so that they can be fried to a crisp)
3 Tbsp oil,1 tsp salt

Method
Puree everything in (A) .
Heat wok on medium heat. Put in oil and fry anchovies until golden, drain and dish up.
With remaining oil in wok, put in (A) and 1 tsp salt and carefully fry it until it turns golden.
Put in rice and turn the heat on high. Toss until it looks even
Crack your eggs and put it in the center of rice. Spread the eggs around. Immediately push the rice onto the eggs and toss the rice. Put long beans into rice and toss for 15 seconds, followed by kankung. Toss again for 5 seconds, not too long. Dish up and serve.

Szechuan Veg. & Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe

ingredients :
200 gm Chicken breast
100 gm Szechuan Vegetable
1 ½ Tbsp oil
1 clove garlic, chopped
1.5L water
1 ½ tsp salt
3 Bird eyes chili (optional, chopped)
Flat noodles for 2 (prepared according to packaging)
Method:
Heat wok and put in oil. Put in chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant and golden.
Put in chicken and stir until it’s half cooked.
Put in Szechuan vegetables. Stir.
Add in water, bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes
Season with salt. It has to be slightly more salty.
To serve, place noodles in a bowl, place amount of bird’s eye chili as needed. Pour boiling soup over noodles.

Fragrant Spicy Pork belly Recipe

Ingredient :
800gm pork belly without skin, cut into large cubes , 1 Tbsp oil. 2 cook eggs

Aromatic
15gm ginger, peeled, sliced, 2 shallots , 2 spring green onion(white part)
3 cloves garlic, 3 dried chillies,
1 to 2 star anise .
½ tsp szechuan peppercorn ( I cant find this )

Seasoning
2 tbsp Hot Bean Paste (Lee Kum Kee)
1 tbsp cooking wine, 1tsp salt, 1 tbsp light soy sauce, 1 tsp dark soy sauce,
1 1/2 tbsp sugar,1 Tbsp light soy sauce, few cups water for braising.

Method .
Bring a pot of water to boil. Put in pork belly cubes and boil until meat turns opaque. Pour meat into a colander and drain the water properly. Heat a wok. Put in oil. Put in the scalded pork pieces, make sure they are spread around in one layer. Then toss and fry the meat until it is slightly browned. Put all the aromatics onto the pork and continues to toss and fry until you can smell the aromatics. Put in all the seasonings except the sugar and continue to fry for one minute. (When you put in the seasonings, do turn the heat to low, when you’re done putting in all the seasonings, return to high heat and cook) Put in few cups of water (let the water cover all the meat) and bring it to a boil. Cover wok/pot with lid. Turn heat to medium and simmer until meat is tender (penetrable with your spatula or a chopstick, always check water level, add more if it dries up. When meat is tender, turn on high heat, put in sugar and let the gravy reduce to preferred consistency.

Making Memories

Making memories with your kids was something worth and everlasting.

Attempts to share time with your kids,
To do something special with them,
To see them smile.

When my kids grow up,
I want them to remember the moment they spend with their parents.
The moments that grave into their heart.
Like how i always remember my granny , we sing together, we sleep at the same room...
Things like that .... i think about her alots.

I share the same difficulties as every parent is trying to do :
Balance work, social life, hobbies,
Kids, their hobbies, school, homework.... many more .
Sometime is hard to tackle each day .
Manytime i may not be able to create a meaningful memory each and everyday,
But i pretty sure.. if we plan ahead, we can make it !!

Cooking & Baking therapy

Hi Everyone !!

Guess my blog is going to become more like food blog now ..

Maybe some of you realize that my kitchen is getting 'hot' lately.

After few baking session with Jeremy,
I slowly feel he 'like' for cake is getting more ... can't said 'love' at this moment.
At least he can finished a small slide of cake ,
Instead of a small bite ... then live the cake aside.

I always like the way he proudly presents his cake to his grandparents.
Saying ... A cake which was baked by him ...
What more funny with question like : "Mummy ... what is the cake call edi ar ???"

Last Saturday we had Banana Coffee Cake.
A recipe from Amy Beh.

250g butter
240g castor sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp coffee essence
3 eggs
4 ripe bananas (pisang emas), well mashed
240g self-raising flour, sifted
1/4 cup UHT milk

Method

Grease and dust lightly with flour a gugelhopf tin. Preheat oven to 180 ºC. Cream butter, sugar and essences until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Stir in bananas and fold in flour gently. Gradually add milk to blend. Pour mixture into prepared tin and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Allow cake to stand for five minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool. Dust with icing sugar and cut into slices.

Once my sister told me before, to make your kids love homecook food ,
We just got to cook more at home,
Involved them in cooking or baking .
We might not able to see result very soon.
At least Big J is asking me to pack breakfast for him !!
I was like ... "What .... you want Peanut Butter to pack and take to school ???!!!"
I was so happy for him to ask me such a request .

A Simple Breakfast for Daddy, mummy and Big J.
We had bread with Tuna.
No nice cutting but a healthy breakfast for family.
After many years of having White Bread,
We are having Wholemeal Bread now .
Just peanut and butter serve with some chocolate .
Pardon me , if i'm not been update about The J brothers.
They both are doing great.
Fight and love ... Naughty and sweet... Good and bad ....
We were suppose to go to Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon 2011 yesterday ..
But we couldn't make it due to raining .

Even sometime or manytime they are driving us nut and crazy ,
Yet We love both of them the most ...
From the birth to their growing two teeth ... tiny toes to big toes..
It's still a beautiful gift to watch them grow .

Mummy was on the other side of the window .
I love this photo the most, the reflection of the glass from the Big J.
